The morning after the night before

After using dubious methods to obtain a 219-212 victory in the House of Representatives, Democrats passed Obama’s 2700 page socialized medicine, and who knows what else, bill Sunday night. Today Democrats are laughing and patting themselves on the back while singing “Happy Days Are Here Again.”  Republicans today, none of whom voted for this travesty, are assessing their options and 11 states are filing law suits. Most of these suits challenge the premise that the federal government, under the guise of regulating interstate commerce, has the authority to make citizens buy health insurance under the threat monetary fine for failing to do so. Whether or not the states will prevail remains to be seen. In any event, the matter will be tied up in court for years to come.

Speaking about the Chicago machine political methods used by the House, Former Speaker Newt Gingrich said this, “The real principles of the machine were articulated by Democratic [Fla] Congressman Alcee Hastings who was impeached and removed from the bench as a federal judge, before being elected to the House when he said ‘There ain't no rules here, we're trying to accomplish something. . . .All this talk about rules. . . .When the deal goes down . . . we make 'em up as we go along.’"  You might remember that Hastings was appointed to the federal bench by Jimmy Carter. In 1981 he was charged with accepting a $150,000 bribe. He was acquitted by a jury after his co-conspirator, Wm. Borders refused to testify. Borders went to prison. Hastings is the quality of congress critter that we are up against these days.

Something that James Taranto wrote in the Wall Street Journal this afternoon got me to thinking, “Obama and Pelosi, it now seems clear, took the opposite message: Our power is in jeopardy, so we'd better use it before it's too late.” Now that the Obama, Reid, Pelosi cabal have been able to ram this so-called health care reform bill down the throats of a public that is over 75% against it, what’s next? What are they planning before the November congressional election? If it was me, I’d do everything I could to make as many illegal aliens citizens and get them signed up to vote. Most of these people vote for Democrats. Making citizens out of enough of them could help the Democrats realize a dream they’ve had since the FDR administration—permanent one party rule.

Remember the failed comprehensive immigration reform bill from the Bush administration? That bill is laying around somewhere, and probably not far from Reid’s and Pelosi’s desks. Besides giving de facto amnesty to millions of illegals currently living in the United States, the term “comprehensive” means there are probably dozens of other things hidden in the bill that we don’t know about—like the things hidden in the health care overhaul that was signed yesterday that Pelosi said we would find out about once it became law. I can hardly wait.

If they are successful in getting amnesty for all the illegals, the next thing is Cap and Trade. This will allow the federal government to take over all the electric and gas companies. “Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket,” said then Senator Obama in 2008. This will enable the government to rob us once again. The rationale is based on Global Warming. Man is causing the climate to change and giving money to politicians to blow is the government’s solution to this imaginary problem. But if you are poor—and a primary recipient of the new health care plan, you won’t have to pay for your electricity under Cap and Trade. Only the rich folks will have to pay--that’s until the government runs out of rich folks. The responsibility to pay will trickle down to the almost rich, the want to be rich, and finally anyone with a job.
